This is your new community paper. It’s a new section of The Gazette dedicated to one of the fastest growing areas of the country. We will be covering the entire Vaudreuil-Soulanges region, focusing on six core municipalities – Vaudreuil-Dorion, St-Lazare, Hudson, Île-Perrot, Notre-Dame-d’Île-Perrot and Pincourt.
In print, it is a modest section inserted into the weekly West Island Gazette. The first edition is in every Gazette in the West Island and Off-Island regions today.
Online, the Off-Island Gazette stands on its own two feet. This site is the latest digital news service in The Gazette’s stable of online services. Bookmark it as a favourite, because this is where all the news and issues of interest from this region will be reported, discussed, debated and commented on.
But this is just the beginning. In the coming weeks, we will be announcing additional innovations on how we will be reporting the news in the Off-Island. More on that later.
So I invite you to take a few moments to browse the site. If you are organizing an event, submit the details with us by creating a calendar event. Send us your photos, to the weekly Photo of the Week contest. If you’re cleaning out the garage and want to get rid of stuff, post a Marketplace ad. It’s free.
If you have a story idea or are simply wondering what is happening with a particular issue, let us know. Scroll to the bottom of the main page and click on the Contact Us button. Send me a message.
Oh, and don’t forget to add your comments to any story that interests you. This is how people in this community can share their views on the news that affect them.
On a personal note, I am very pleased with he launch of the Off-Island Gazette. As a resident of this area, I have lobbied hard and long to convince the powers-that-be at The Gazette to expand our coverage area. This region is growing, but it is also developing into a vibrant , engaged community. One that I am very fortunate to be part of. This is going to be a great adventure. Be part of the exchange. We aim to create a place where Off-Islanders can come together. Join us. And sign up as a registered user. There is more to come.
