Boil water advisory lifted in Les Cedres

After five months, the boil water advisory in Les Cédres has finally been lifted.

According to a notice issued by the municipality of Les Cedres, the advisory was lifted following the latest test results by the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement, de la Faune et des Parcs.

The advisory was issued by the provincial environment department after readings showed evidence of E. coli in raw water samples in June.

Some residents had been buying bottled water since the boil water advisory was issued on June 4 and residents were getting updates every two weeks.

According to Jean-François Ouellet of the Quebec environment department, one of the water treatment facilities was inadequate in treating water being fed from a reservoir.

Work is scheduled to continue until Dec. 1.
