AMT backtracks: Six new departures cannot be added to Vaudreuil-Hudson line until 2014

Montreal’s commuter train authority is backtracking on a promise to add six new departures to the Vaudreuil-Hudson line in 2013.

Vaudreuil-Hudson, which serves the West Island, currently offers 27 trains daily.

On Friday, the Agence métropolitaine de transport told The Gazette six new trains would be added next year as part of service improvements to be paid for by new fare hikes.

But on Monday, AMT spokesperson Brigitte Léonard said the six new departures in fact cannot be added to Vaudreuil-Hudson until required improvements to tracks are completed in 2014.

However, she said the promised six new departures on the Blainville-St. Jérôme will indeed be added in 2013.

Train fares will increase by three per cent on Jan. 1.
