Highway 30, officially linked up from end to end for one day, was closed Tuesday morning after a four-vehicle accident brought a lamp standard down right across all eastbound lanes.
The incident happened in Boucherville close to where the new belt highway that skirts Montreal meets up with Highway 20.
The Sûreté du Québec was called to the scene at 6:35 a.m. and officers had to shut the highway down, detour traffic, arrange to cut the electricity and then remove the fallen lamppost.
One person was injured in the smash-up, but not seriously. Whether snow or driving conditions were the cause of the accident is still to be determined.
The highway was reopened at 8:15 a.m.
