A 26-year-old Valleyfield woman was killed Monday at 2 a.m. when the car in which she was a passenger spun off Highway 20 near Côteau-du-Lac, 60 kilometres west of Montreal.
The driver, a Valleyfield man in his 20s, was seriously injured but his life is not in danger, said Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Daniel Thibodeau.
Police administered an alcohol test to the driver, who could face charges if he was over the legal limit, Thibodeau said.
The victim was thrown from the car, said Thibodeau, who did not know whether she was wearing a seatbelt. She was declared dead in the Centre hospitalier de Valleyfield.
