Residents will see tax increases averaging about 3 per cent in the town of St. Lazare, according to the budget adopted on Dec. 19, just before council broke for holidays.
The new tax rate is $0.6128 for every $100 of a home’s evaluation. (So to find out how much your tax bill will be, multiply the rate by your home’s value, and divide by 100). Additional charges are for water, garbage collection, and sewage treatment.
The average tax bill will increase by $73.55 – a 2.72-per-cent difference from last year – but individual increases will vary greatly because of the new valuation role. Residents can see their new assessed property values on the town’s website.
