The town of Pincourt announced Friday it will cancel its Winterfest activities, which were slated to run on Saturday at Olympique Park.
Town spokesperson Danielle Carbonneau said the event was cancelled for safety reasons and blamed the treacherous conditions caused by warm weather followed by a sudden freeze.
“There is ice where there isn’t supposed to be any, and there’s no ice where we would want it,” she said.
She added all the ice melted away from skating rinks, and there is lots of ice on the playing field of Olympique Park, where children are supposed to be walking.
The event won’t be rescheduled for another time, Carbonneau said.
