Train stalled in Île Perrot Thursday morning

Train 20 inbound to downtown was halted in its tracks at the Île-Perrot station Thursday at 8:21 a.m.

Its commuters instead had to be shunted onto highway buses for their journey into the city core.

An outbound commuter train immobilized with brake troubles, Train 11, had blocked the sole available track at that station, spokesperson Brigitte Léonard of the Agence métropolitaine de transport said.

Had Train 20 not been the final train of the morning rush hour originating from off-island, the problem would have compounded.

Train 20’s normally scheduled arrival at Lucien L’Allier is 9:10 a.m.

Léonard said she couldn’t immediately provide the ultimate downtown arrival time for the displaced Train 20 passengers — or specify their total.

“The buses arrived at 8:20” a.m. at Île-Perrot station to pick up the first of them, she said.

The train that had turned into an obstacle, Train 11, is the sole morning outbound run from downtown to off-island.

It leaves Lucien L’Allier station at 7 a.m.

It was declared immobile and pulled from service — if not from the track — at 7:49 a.m. at Île-Perrot.

Its scheduled Île-Perrot arrival time is 7:41 a.m. After a stop in Dorion, its run was to have ended in Vaudreuil at 7:55 a.m.

“We don’t have double tracks in that section,” Léonard said.

I guess one should stick her head outside of her office and take a look!!! I ride the train every day from Vaudreuil to downtown Montreal and there are 2 sets of CP tracks in this section at Ile Perrot. The only section that there is only one track is that that is at the Vaudreuil station section end, from the fork just past the west side Dorion station where the freight tracks and the tracks to the Vaudreuil station split . And if you want to check just check Google Map street view. There are 2 tracks on the CN side and 2 tracks on the CP side. So if one track was blocked the other could have been used. So what is the real excuse?
